Storytrails and Chennai Photo Biennale team up to present ‘Stories to Frame’ – a set of thoughtfully curated trails that get you to explore the best of Madras through your mobile phone and a camera lens.
Take a walk through the city and sample her stories. An expert photographer will guide you through the nuances of photography at each location, while the stories set a context to the sights you see. All the stories are played from the newly launched Storytrails Audio Tours mobile app.
The Storytrails Audio Tours App is a mobile application that makes the curated tours of Storytrails available on your mobile device. This location-aware app triggers stories based on your location and provides navigation support. Enjoy them at your convenience, at a pace you set, and with many sample photographs and illustrations for each story. The app works even without internet connectivity. The Storytrails Audio Tours App is available only on the Android platform at present.
The first walk in this series is being conducted on 19 August, to celebrate the World Photography Day and a prelude to Madras Week. The walk is called the Colonial Madras trail – Part 1: Lighthouse to Senate House. Set along the Marina, this walk takes photography enthusiasts through stories of Colonial Madras. What was Madras like back then? How did the arrival of the British change our lives?
Photographer Varun Gupta will be hosting this walk, giving participants advice on how to take the best pictures of the sights they see. So besides hearing amazing stories about the city, participants will also get to take great pictures.
